Sydney, 21 April 2022: The Ramsay Centre is proud to announce that Higher Education leader, Dante scholar, and award-winning tertiary educator, Professor Diana Glenn, is joining the Centre as its new Academic Director.
Professor Glenn replaces Dr Stephen McInerney, who is returning to his teaching career at Campion College, where he is both Senior Lecturer in Literature and Director of the Centre for the Study of the Western Tradition.
Before joining the Centre, Professor Glenn was the National Head of the School of Arts at Australian Catholic University (ACU), and before that, the Dean of the School of Humanities and Creative Arts at Flinders University.
She has previously taught at the Universities of Melbourne and Adelaide, while undertaking research in Dante Studies, migration and twentieth century Italian literature. She has also served as Lead Co-ordinator (Australia) for the ICI (Instrument for Co-operation with Industrialised Countries) EU-AU Joint Mobility project ‘Border Crossings: People and Places’.
She has authored and co-edited nine books, including Dante’s Reforming Mission and Women in the Comedy (Troubador Italian Studies Series, 2008), ‘Legato con amore in un volume’: Essays in Honour of John A. Scott (Olschki, 2013), and Italian Identities (Troubador Italian Studies Series, 2020).
Ramsay Centre CEO Professor Simon Haines said the Centre was delighted to welcome Professor Glenn, after collaborating with her on the ACU/Ramsay Centre partnership.
“Diana is a distinguished scholar and author, and an outstanding university leader,” Professor Haines said.
“We have always valued her insights, her sector expertise and her passion for western civilisation and are delighted she has accepted this leadership role with the Centre.”
Professor Haines also paid tribute to Dr McInerney for his outstanding leadership and achievements.
“Dr McInerney played a foundational role in the establishment of our three undergraduate partnerships with Australian universities and led the formation of our highly successful Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship program,” Professor Haines said.
“We thank him for his invaluable contribution and are delighted he will continue his association with the Centre, including leading our Great Books Podcast Series.”
